According to the Ombudsman Secretariat, lower house of the Uzbek parliament adopted a resolution on election of Sayyora Rashidova as he Human Rights Commissioner.

The resolution will be transferred to the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan for consideration.

In line with the legislation of Uzbekistan, President of Uzbekistan submits candidacy to the post of the Ombudsman to the parliament. Ombudsman is elected for five years.

Sayyora Rashidova has been working as the Ombudsman since 1995. She was elected to the post of Ombudsman three times.
