Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan has passed the Law “On State Defense Order” and forwarded it to the Senate for further review, according to the newspaper "Narodnoe Slovo."
The law is designed to establish a unified legal framework for regulating relations concerning the formation and implementation of the state defense order, as well as to clarify the powers of government agencies and regulate their interactions. It aims to address issues related to security and emergency response.
The legislation outlines key concepts, objectives, and tasks related to the state defense order, as well as state regulation and confidentiality procedures. The bill was developed in accordance with a presidential decree from 31 January 2023, which instructed the Defense Industry Agency under the Ministry of Defense to draft the document.
The State Commission on Equipping the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan will be responsible for reviewing and approving the defense order, while the state unitary enterprise O’ztextreyd has been designated as the sole agent for procuring military and dual-use products abroad.
The Legislative Chamber has not published details about the consideration of the bill on its website, and it was not mentioned in the agenda on the YouTube page of the lower house of Parliament.
