Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In its second reading, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis reviewed a draft law aimed at improving the provision of educational services.

The document envisions the development of supplementary education for both children and adults. To organize children’s leisure and recreational time, extracurricular educational activities will be offered by state bodies, as well as non-governmental non-profit and commercial organizations, in cultural and aesthetic, scientific and technical, and sports fields.

At the same time, the majority of educational centers, libraries, and health institutions will be able to provide educational services to adults. Accordingly, the draft law proposes creating and strengthening the legal framework allowing adult citizens to attend such institutions.

The term “extracurricular education” will be replaced with “supplementary education.” The Law “On Education” will distinguish between supplementary education for children and for adults. The system will focus on developing creative abilities and professional skills, meeting individual intellectual and physical needs, strengthening health, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and ensuring effective leisure activities.

After discussions, the draft law was adopted by deputies in its third reading and submitted to the Senate.
