Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has approved, in the second reading, a bill aimed at improving the system for preventing iodine deficiency diseases among the population.
The document outlines the authority of the Ministry of Health in this area, including the establishment of requirements for the composition of iodine-containing preparations used in iodizing salt and food products.
It also defines sanitary and hygienic standards governing the production, storage, transportation, and sale of iodized salt.
According to the deputies, the adoption of the bill will contribute to strengthening public health, preventing iodine deficiency diseases, and enhancing the intellectual potential of the younger generation.
