Leading Malaysian Tourism Delegation Explores Uzbekistan’s Travel Potential

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 3 to 9 July 2025, with the support of the Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur, and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, an informational tour was organized for leading representatives of Malaysia’s travel industry.

The initiative aimed to comprehensively promote Uzbekistan’s tourism potential within the Malaysian market.

The delegation included senior figures from the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), the Bumiputera Association of Tour and Travel Agents (BUMITRA), PAPUH, as well as representatives from around 30 major travel companies specializing in Hajj, Umrah, pilgrimage, and cultural tours. Malaysian actress and TV host Adrea Abdullah also joined the group.

The visitors toured Tashkent, as well as the Bukhara, Samarkand, and Jizzakh regions, where they explored Uzbekistan’s offerings in pilgrimage and cultural tourism. They were introduced to the country’s rich cultural heritage and religious landmarks recognized across the Islamic world.

The Malaysian side praised the country’s evolving tourism infrastructure — from new hotels and digital guides to modern transportation systems and tourist-friendly services.

The program also included B2B meetings between Uzbek and Malaysian tour operators, where participants discussed long-term partnerships, development of new tour routes, and enhanced cooperation in religious tourism. Malaysian companies showcased their services and held direct negotiations with local counterparts.

This info-tour marks an important step in strengthening Uzbekistan’s image in Malaysia’s travel market and is expected to lead to new tour packages and increased international collaboration, particularly in the promising field of pilgrimage tourism.
