Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 December, a phone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
During the conversation, the leaders discussed in detail the issues of strengthening strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov conveyed greetings and best wishes from Turkmenistan’s President, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the intensification of bilateral contacts, highlighting the successful holding of the Regional Forum, the industrial exhibition, and Uzbek Culture Days in Turkmenistan in November. The presentation of a collection of works in the Uzbek language and the screening of a joint film about Makhtumkuli Fragi in Ashgabat were also noted.
It was mentioned that the trade turnover between the two countries has exceeded $1 billion since the beginning of the year. The volume of cargo transportation, including through the Turkmenbashi port, is growing, and the construction of the border zone "Shavat - Dashoguz" is continuing. Cooperation is deepening in industries, agriculture, transport, and other areas.
The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in energy and water management, as well as exchanged views on international and regional issues. President Mirziyoyev congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the upcoming holiday, Turkmenistan’s Neutrality Day, wishing well-being and prosperity to the Turkmen people.
