Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During his visit to Ashgabat, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the Turkmen leader on the successful hosting of the International Forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy.

During the talks, the two leaders discussed the further development of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, focusing on political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation.

They highlighted the growth in trade turnover, ongoing work on the establishment of a cross-border trade zone, and collaboration in energy, transportation, agriculture, and water management.

In addition, the leaders addressed regional and international issues and agreed on a schedule for upcoming high-level contacts.

As a gesture of respect, Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with a collection of Magtymguly’s works translated into Uzbek.
