Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On August 9, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida at the initiative of the Japanese side.
The President of Uzbekistan expressed his concern about the strong earthquake in southeastern Japan and the predicted tsunamis.
The decision by the Japanese side to postpone the first "Central Asia + Japan" summit and Prime Minister Kishida's official visit to Uzbekistan, which were scheduled for 10-11 August, was fully understood.
Both sides agreed to continue preparatory activities and to coordinate new dates for the visit through diplomatic channels.
