Leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discuss plans to expand practical cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 March, a telephone conversation took place between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The leaders warmly congratulated each other and the brotherly peoples of both countries on Navruz, sincerely wishing them peace, well-being, and prosperity.
During the discussion, they thoroughly reviewed current issues concerning the further deepening of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations in the spirit of friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance. Special attention was given to the implementation of planned initiatives in line with the agreements reached following President Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan in August last year.
The leaders expressed satisfaction with the dynamic and productive cooperation within the framework of the Year of Economic Cooperation. Trade turnover between the two countries is growing steadily, and joint projects in key sectors such as automobile manufacturing, textiles, electrical engineering, energy, agriculture, and tourism are progressing at a rapid pace.
Both sides also emphasized the importance of regular cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The presidents exchanged views on pressing international issues and reviewed the schedule of upcoming bilateral meetings and high-level multilateral summits.
