Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- At the latest plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was reviewed.
It was noted that in recent years, systematic measures have been taken to effectively use agricultural land and water resources, and to comprehensively support agricultural producers.
However, there is a need to increase the volumes of agricultural production, expand the possibilities for subleasing agricultural land, establish the legal basis for allocating land plots to farming enterprises, agro-industrial clusters, and other legal entities specializing in sericulture and mulberry cultivation, as well as revise the conditions for land use by landowners, land users, and tenants.
This Law introduces amendments and additions to the Land Code and the Law "On Farming" to provide for the possibility of subleasing agricultural land plots for up to ten years around canals, irrigation, and collector-drainage networks at the edges of fields. It also allows landowners, land users, and tenants to plant optimal crops or mulberry saplings on these land plots and in the inter-row spaces of orchards and vineyards.
Additionally, the Land Code is supplemented to allow the allocation of land plots up to ten hectares to farming enterprises, agro-industrial clusters, and other legal entities specializing in sericulture and mulberry cultivation.
The Code of Administrative Responsibility is also amended to define the powers of the Inspection for Agricultural Complex Control under the Ministry of Agriculture and the Inspection for Water Management Facility Safety and Water Use Control under the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan to handle administrative offense cases.
According to the senators, the Law aims to expand the opportunities for agricultural production by efficiently using land plots and further developing sericulture and mulberry cultivation, as well as to strengthen the rule of law in land and water resource use.
The law was approved by the senators.
