The concert of Iļģi will be held in the Grand Hall of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan on Saturday, 29 August 2015, at 19:00.
The Iļģi group is the pioneer and leader of the Latvian post-folklore movement and the most internationally renowned Latvian world music band, which celebrates its anniversary on 21 April. Since its origins in 1981, the band has released more than 10 albums and one greatest hits album, and in various groupings the musicians have participated in the creation of the Latvian Folk Music Collection series by Upe recording company as well as other cooperation projects. Iļģi have received six Latvian Music Recording Awards for the contemporary folk music album of the year.
The spectrum of moods in Iļģi’s music varies from suggestive peace that gives us strength to bury our troubles to unrestrained vitality bursting with joy. Both ends of this spectrum create and build on one another as inseparable parts of a single entity, which is life, the ancient order of things now embodied in the musical art of Iļģi.
