Large-scale “One Million Uzbek Coders” project launched in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Abdulla Aripov and Omar bin Sultan al-Olama officially launched the “One Million Uzbek Coders” project. The project is a free distance learning for the general population through a specialized online portal for four IT specialties.

On 21 November, a large-scale project “One Million Uzbek Coders” was launched at Inha University in Tashkent. Among the guests who took part in the ceremony were the delegation of the UAE, the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the heads of the ministries and departments of our country. The event also hosted an exhibition of programmers at Inha University in Tashkent, where students presented their own developments.

The One Million Uzbek Coders project in Uzbekistan is being implemented by the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan in collaboration with the Dubai Future Foundation, Inha University in Tashkent, the IT Academy and the Muhammad al-Khorazmiy IT School.

“Today, the most valuable wealth of modern Uzbekistan is human resources. It should be noted that more than 60% of our population is young people, whose age is not older than 29 years. And for this reason, the state youth policy is actively pursued in the country, since the fate of every citizen is of great importance to us. Within the framework of this policy, today a number of projects for the development of information technologies are being implemented in the country,” Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov noted in his speech.

The project is a free distance learning for the general population through a specialized online portal. Everyone will be able to submit applications immediately after the launch of the project. The aim of the program is to train a generation of specialists in digital technologies, equipping with all the tools - programming skills.

“The aim of the One Million Uzbek Coders initiative is to create opportunities for the youth of your country to fully demonstrate their talents and potential, develop human capital and support Uzbekistan in the form of economic growth. We want to share our experience, difficulties, achievements, as well as create an opportunity for Uzbeks to acquire new knowledge and skills for the future labor market,” Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister for Artificial Intelligence, said.

At the first stage, the project covers four of the most demanded specialties in the global labor market: Data Analytics, Android Development, FrontEnd Development and FullStack Development. The general course is designed for 120 hours of training. The result of each level will be the preparation of laboratory work and the receipt of appropriate certificates.

Successful course graduates will be able to compete for grants and continue their studies in one of more than 100 programs of the Nanodegree platform Udacity. To do this, you must successfully pass the final exam and enter the Top-150 students with the highest scores. It should be noted that Nanodegree diplomas are recognized by such giants of the IT industry as Google, AT&T, Autodesk, Salesforce and many others.

For the first time, a project for remote training of programmers was launched in the UAE under the name “One Million Arab Coders”. As part of the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United Arab Emirates, in March of this year agreements were reached in a number of areas, including in the IT industry. The Government of the United Arab Emirates, having studied the possibilities of exporting the project to Uzbekistan, developed a plan to adapt the concept to the country's conditions and launched an initiative at the local level called “One Million Uzbek Coders”.
