Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A new modern greenhouse complex with an area of 4 hectares has been launched in Dangara district of Ferghana region of Uzbekistan, where hydroponics technology is used to produce tomatoes and cucumbers, i.e. cultivation without the use of soil, according to EastFruit experts.
The construction of the greenhouse complex owned by Ideal Mustang Plus LLC was completed at the end of 2021. The total cost of the project amounted to 27 billion soums (US$2.5 million). The planned annual volume of production in this complex is 600 tons of tomatoes and 200 tons of cucumbers. Currently, greenhouses are preparing for the first harvest of tomatoes.
According to Uza.uz, in 2017-2021, greenhouses with a total area of 251 hectares were built in the Ferghana region of Uzbekistan, and as of the end of 2021, the total area of greenhouses in this region of the country reached 311 hectares, of which 84 hectares are greenhouses, where using hydroponic technology.
Thus, from the beginning of 2017 to the end of 2021, the total area of greenhouses in Ferghana region increased from 60 to 311 hectares, i.e. 5.2 times.
In 2021, 398 modern greenhouses with a total area of 797 hectares were built in Uzbekistan, and the total investment in their construction amounted to 2.3 trillion soums. soums (US$212.4 million).
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of the end of 2021, the total area of greenhouses in Uzbekistan amounted to 5.5 thousand hectares.
