The press centre says that an agreement was reached on 2 June. "The two sides agreed to resume passage of border guards and local residents on Kyrgyz and Uzbek sides to border areas of the adjacent country in line with agreements reached earlier. Collaboration is still in force between the border services in exchanging information, carrying out joint measures to detain vehicles and people involved in contraband, illegal migration, as well as identifying people belonging to religious extremist and terrorist organisations", the Kyrgyz Border Service’s press centre added.
The situation on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border is currently stable. All problems are being solved at the level of border guards, the press centre said.
What is more, the two sides have exchanged servicemen and vehicles temporarily detained between 26 May and 2 June 2009.
