Kyrgyzstan may ban import of vegetables and fruits from Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – A proposal was made in Kyrgyzstan to banthe import of vegetables and fruits from Uzbekistan.

According to Kyrgyzstani media reports, this proposal was put forward by deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh.

Deputy Balbak Tulobaev believes that this measure will help local farmers sell their produce.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kubat Kuseyinov stated that he will consider this proposal.

Additionally, Deputy Zamirbek Mamasadykov noted that farmers in the Osh region are complaining about falling tomato prices, which has impacted sales of their produce. At the same time, vegetables, watermelons, and melons are being imported into the country from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

According to him, local farmers cannot compete on prices with produce from these countries due to differences in growing conditions and climate.
