The Kyrgyz parliament ratified an agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation for 2007-2011.

The Kyrgyz economic development and trade minister, Sabyrbek Moldokulov, said that this bill would help boost investment cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan has many restrictions in the form of excise taxes on goods and other things. For this reason, trade is too slow. Earlier trade between the two countries had been about US$50 million. It, however, amounted to UD$82 million in the first six months of 2007. This is a good growth rate, Moldokulov said.
