Kuwait SC coach oozes confidence
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Kuwait Sports Club boss Dragan Talajic admitted it has not been the smoothest build-up to the AFC Cup final but was confident his side can still triumph when they take on Nasaf at Karshi Central Stadium.

Midfielders Sami Al Sanea and Jarah Al Ateeqi are suspended after picking up second yellow cards in the 3-3 draw with Arbil in the second leg of the semi-final that set-up Saturday's clash with the Uzbeks.

Talajic is also wrestling with injury and illness among his squad but the flamboyant Croat believes the Kuwaitis will overcome any setback to lift the trophy in Uzbekistan.

"We have two suspended players, we have some injured players and some sick players who got the flu when we arrived here to cold weather from hot weather in Kuwait," he said.

"But for our team it is not a big problem since we have enough quality players to play tomorrow and to win.

"I respect Nasaf as soon as they qualified for the AFC Cup final. I can congratulate their coach Anatoliy Demianenko. We have prepared for the final with full strength. I hope we will play our best match tomorrow and I hope that the supporters will be happy to watch it."

Kuwait SC will have to beat Nasaf on their own ground if they are to repeat their success of 2009 when they defeated Al Karamah to win the AFC Cup, a challenge they are more than ready for according to Talajic.

"I am happy to be part of the AFC Cup and I am proud to be in the final of the AFC Cup," he added.

"We accept any format of competition and we agreed to play wherever the AFC decided - in Karshi, at a neutral venue or in Kuwait. Anyway, we are here to win the trophy."

Nasaf, meanwhile, edged out Al Wehdat 2-1 on aggregate to reach the final. Prior to taking over at Kuwait SC, Talajic was in charge of the Jordanians, where he won four trophies in his only season at the helm, and with tongue somewhat in cheek suggested that Nasaf may not have reached the AFC Cup final if he had remained in Amman.

"I was working at Al Wehdat last year and I got invitation from Kuwait SC. If I would have stayed at Al Wehdat maybe Nasaf would not have qualified for the AFC Cup final," he joked.

"But I am happy to work in Kuwait and I am sure that we will win tomorrow."
