Kuala Lumpur hosts Road Show on promotion of Ziyorat tourism in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 July 2018, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia together with the Uzbek travel company Turon Travel, as well as the Association of Tourism Operators of Malaysia “Bumiputera” conducted a Road Show on the promotion of “Ziyorat” (Pilgrimage) tourism in Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur.

Over 60 members of the Bumiputera Association took part in the Road Show. Among the participants were such major travel companies in Malaysia as Zafco Travel & Tours, ATN Travel, Udara Travel & Tours, Felda Travel, Tri-D Travel & Tours, Lintas Travel Services, Tripfez Travel, Tabung Haji Travel & Services, etc.

The main objectives of the event were a broad presentation of the tourist potential of Uzbekistan and Ziyorat tourism, the promotion of services of domestic tour operators in the Malaysian market, as well as the establishment of long-term partnerships between Uzbek and Malaysian companies.

During the meeting, the guests were informed about the large-scale reforms, being carried out in the republic, modernization and expansion of infrastructure in the tourism industry, current status and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia in tourism, the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Republic, the unique and huge the potential of the country’s regions for the development of pilgrimage tourism for Malaysian citizens interested in visiting the historical monuments of Islam in the territory of Uzbekistan Kazakhstan.

The Malaysian side received information on visa-free regime between two cities and introduction of e-visa system in Uzbekistan. Citizens from 101 countries can also stay in Uzbekistan without visa for five days.

It was stated that direct flights will be launched between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia in October, which will develop Umrah Plus tour packages on route Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent-Jeddah route for Malaysian pilgrims with two and three days stay in Uzbekistan.

It is also planned to introduce a pilot project on the Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent-Tel Aviv route with a 2-day stay in Uzbekistan for pilgrims traveling to the Al-Aqsa Mosque (Palestine).

The event also helped businesses of two states to exchange views and establish contacts, exchange information on tour products, etc.

At the same time, representatives of Malaysian travel companies stressed that Uzbekistan made an exceptional contribution to the formation and development of the Islamic religion. In particular, it was emphasized that such great thinkers as Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Termizi, Imam al-Farghani, al-Maturidiy, Bahauddin Naqshband are still highly esteemed in all Muslim countries, including Malaysia.

During the meeting, preliminary agreement was reached on sending 200-300 people from Malaysia to Uzbekistan within Umrah Plus package once direct flights between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia is opened.
