Kovun Sayli festival opens in Khiva

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The traditional Kovun Sayli festival is being held in the ancient city of Khiva, an open-air museum.

The official opening ceremony of the event has just ended. The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Voitov spoke in detail about the achievements in the field in recent years, the importance of such festivals, both in the development of the agricultural sector and the tourism industry, and measures taken to increase the types and varieties of gourds, especially melons.

The hosts of the event, farmers of Khorezm region, brought about 1,000 tons of melons, a local but very popular Gurvak variety far beyond the region, more than 400 tons of watermelons, 200 tons of pumpkin, as well as more than 100 tons of fruits and vegetables to the Kovun Saily abundance forum .

According to the results of the international festival "Kovun Saily-2023", winners will be determined from among the participants in the following categories:

introduction of new innovative technologies in the cultivation of melons;

localization of new varieties;

achievement of the highest productivity in the cultivation of gourds;

restoration of ancient traditional varieties of Khorezm melons;

best young melon farmer.

The winners of the festival will receive cars Gentra, Nexia-3, Spark, Damas, as well as valuable gifts and certificates for their contribution to the development of the agro-industrial complex of Uzbekistan.
