Korzinka attracts US$25 million for distribution center construction

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The German Investment and Development Corporation (DEG - Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH) has provided the Uzbek retail chain Korzinka with a long-term loan of US$25 million.

Korzinka plans to use the funds to build a new distribution center, which will play a crucial role in the company's growth strategy.

The new distribution center, covering an area of 49,000 square meters, will be a key component of Korzinka’s logistics system. It will enhance efficiency in supplying stores across the country by optimizing storage and delivery processes, reducing costs, speeding up transportation, and ensuring an uninterrupted supply to retail outlets, according to Korzinka CEO Rud Pedersen.

The distribution center will be one of the first logistics facilities in Central Asia to receive EDGE certification. The implementation of environmentally friendly and resource-saving technologies will significantly reduce energy consumption and minimize environmental impact. Additionally, the modern storage system will allow for strict temperature control, ensuring the freshness and safety of food products.

The construction of the distribution center is also being financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group.
