Korzinka admits guilt in violation of advertising law

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Korzinka supermarket chain has admitted its guilt in violating the Advertising Law.

The company has made corrections and additions to its public offer and advertising materials for the "Lowest Prices for Daily Purchases" program, following recommendations from the Competition Development and Consumer Protection Committee of Uzbekistan.

Korzinka has voluntarily paid a fine for improper advertising, which, according to the law, amounts to 70 basic calculation units (as of the publication date — 23.8 million soums).

Additionally, Korzinka has requested an extension from the Committee, citing the need to reissue a large volume of advertising materials. The Committee granted this request, extending the deadline to 16 October.

In July 2024, the Competition Development and Consumer Protection Committee of Uzbekistan fined Anglesey Food, the company managing the Korzinka chain, for misleading advertising.

Committee specialists analyzed advertising materials containing phrases such as "Lowest Prices for Daily Purchases," "Lowest Prices at Korzinka," and "Come for the Best Deals!"

According to the Committee, such statements could mislead consumers.

The advertising campaign featured a catalog of essential goods, with price comparisons using data from various supermarkets and markets.

The investigation revealed that the prices for some products advertised as "lowest" were, in fact, comparable to those of similar products in other supermarkets and markets.
