KOICA Uzbekistan Office hosts 2nd Knowledge Sharing Program at Green University on Clean Water and Sanitation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 August, the KOICA Uzbekistan office held its second Knowledge Sharing Program at Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies - Green University (below is Green University), focusing on clean water and sanitation.

The Knowledge Sharing Program is an initiative where participants of the KOICA CIAT (Capacity Improvement & Advancement for Tomorrow) program share the knowledge they acquired during their training in Korea with the public in Uzbekistan.

Mr. Jahongir Khalikov, Deputy Head of the Department for Attraction of Foreign Investments at O'zsuvta'minot, served as a key presenter at the event. He shared valuable insights from this year's KOICA training program in Korea, titled "Capacity Building for Water Management to Mitigate Water Shortage in Uzbekistan." The event drew the attention of students, professors, and the general public, both in person and online, with many attendees expressing their interest and enthusiasm during the Q&A session.

The significance of the event was further highlighted by the active participation of Green University. Dr. Jasur Salikhov, the Rector of Green University, delivered a congratulatory speech, emphasizing the critical importance of water management. Green University, which officially opened on February 10, 2024, is the first institution in Central Asia dedicated solely to addressing environmental challenges, demonstrating a strong commitment to overcoming these pressing issues. It is particularly meaningful that the KOICA CIAT program is holding a knowledge-sharing event on environmental issues at Green University, with plans to further engage with ecological topics in the future.

Among the KOICA CIAT programs, Uzbekistan benefits from six country-specific programs focused on topics such as water resource management and government digitalization. Additionally, three multi-country programs address broader issues, including earthquake preparedness.

This Knowledge Sharing Program reflects KOICA’s ongoing commitment to fostering international cooperation and knowledge exchange, aiming to support sustainable development in Uzbekistan and beyond.
