The first such event was held in 2010. The current festival was organized by KOICA volunteer Kwon Sung Jong (teacher of Korean language at Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies). Some 220 volunteers and students participated in this year’s event.
The opening of festival commenced with congratulatory speech of the Director of KOICA Office in Uzbekistan Ms. Im Jeong Hee. Further the participants enjoyed the performance of Samulnori group (Korean national music), Puchechum (dances with fan), K-Pop, demonstration of taekwondo skills and took part in the quiz.
In the afternoon the participants had an opportunity to try Korean meals, try on national Korean clothes (Hanbok). Then the participants took memorial photos.
This festival is held every year and it gives the participants a chance to closer familiarize with Korean culture.
The event was attended not only by volunteers in Korean language, but also by volunteers in IT, taekwondo and other fields.
KOICA volunteers are dispatched to Uzbekistan for the term of 2 years. Their objectives are to familiarize the population of Uzbekistan with Korean culture and KOICA activities.
