Khorezm region to rehabilitate irrigation system
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Khorezm region of Uzbekistan is planning to kick off implementation of a project on reconstruction of irrigation system of the region with the cost of US$120 million.

UzA news agency reported that Islamic Development Bank will allocate over US$90 million to implement the project.

Overall, the state budget will allocate another 225 billion soums to implement works in this direction in next five years.

In the result, land conditions will be improved at 144,000 hectares of irrigated land and some 225,000 hectares of land will receive water supply.

The project on rehabilitation of irrigation channel of Toshsok will be implemented in the region. The project cost is US$144 million and it will be implemented in collaboration with Islamic Development Bank.

It will be implemented within four years and improve water supply at 192,000 hectares of agriculture lands. Natural water supply will be ensured at 62,500 hectares of land. Some 304 electric engines will be removed. It will help to save 87.5 million kilowatt of electricity. Nine objects will be constructed at Toshska, Shovot and Polvon-Gazovot channels to increase water level.
