Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Work on the modernization of the Khishrau hydroelectric power station is underway in Samarkand region. The project is carried out in cooperation with a Chinese company.

After the upgrade, the station’s capacity will be increased to 26.6 MW, and an average of 140 million kWh of environmentally friendly electricity will be produced per year.

Khishrau HPP is the largest hydroelectric power plant in Samarkand region. As part of the project, the main equipment is being updated - hydro generators, hydro transformers, power transformers, etc.

Also, by the end of this year, 3 new hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 21 MW will be put into operation in the region.
