Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) —  Khavasbek Asadullaev, a member of Uzbekistan’s boxing team, was stripped of his gold medal at the Asian Championship for biting his opponent. This was reported by the press service of the Asian Boxing Confederation.

The final bout between Khavasbek Asadullaev and Kazakhstan’s boxer Ablaykhan Zhusupov in the 71 kg weight category took place on 11 December in Thailand.

During the fight, Asadullaev bit Zhusupov on the shoulder, which led to a protest being filed by the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation.

The technical delegate of the Asian Championship, Sadi Duffy, made the decision to disqualify Asadullaev for violating the rules. As a result, Ablaykhan Zhusupov was declared the winner.
