Speaking at lower house of parliament, Kusainov stated that the sides achieved agreement with border services of Uzbekistan on opening border check point Maktaaral on temporary scheme till 31 March 2011 to ensure uninterrupted movement of trains.

Currently, the sides are preparing to sign corresponding agreement with Uzbekistan, the Kazakh official said.

The Kazakh border service closed railway communication from Atakent stations to Uzbekistan on November 2009. The Kazakh border service blocked the railroad.
