Kazakhstan has set up the second detachment of border guards on its border with Uzbekistan in South Kazakhstan Region, the commander of the regional department Ontustik (South) of the border service under the National Security Committee, Talgat Esetov, told Interfax-Kazakhstan today.
"The detachment of border guards has been set up from the Zhetisay separate commandants’ office. It will guard the border from Saryagash District in South Kazakhstan Region to Kyzylorda Region," he said.
Esetov noted that "earlier only the Saryagash detachment of border guards was responsible for the Kazakh-Uzbek border in South Kazakhstan Region. The second detachment will make it possible to improve the operational management and the quality of border guarding".
The regional department Ontustik has the following four detachments of border guards: the Kyzylorda, Zhetysay, Saryagash and Taraz detachments.
