President of Kazakhstan signed a law “On ratification of agreement on order of organizing and holding joint anti-terrorism exercises of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization”. The agreement was inked in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) on 28 August 2008.
The agreement is directed at creating international-legal base for cooperation in holding anti-terrorism exercises within the SCO to prepare special anti-terrorism structures for joint action against terrorism acts in the SCO space.
The agreement sets legal and organizational basis for interaction of competent bodies of the SCO member states, responsible for fighting terrorism, in training and holding joint drills, legal status of exercises, etc.
The SCO unites Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Mongolia, India, Iran and Pakistan have observer status. Sri Lanka and Belarus are partners in dialogue.
