Kazakhstan assumes SCO presidency from Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Kazakhstan assumed presidency in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) from Uzbekistan. This was announced at the SCO leaders’ summit, which is taking place in Tashkent.

The jubilee summit of the SCO, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the organization, will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on 15 June 2011, the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev said.

Kazakh leader said the main tasks of the SCO will be support of peace, stability and security in the region, development of the trade-economic, cultural, humanitarian cooperation.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization unites Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
