Kazakh Ambassador to Uzbekistan talks on perspective project in agriculture
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Employment of the population and ensuring food security are the most topical issues for the Central Asia in the conditions of the global financial crisis at present, Kazinform reported.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have a number of joint projects of mutual interest, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan Zautbek Turisbekov said at a meeting with journalists Monday.

Along with water problems Central Asia faces the problem of provision of the population with food. Taking into consideration demographic tendencies the food prices will rise constantly, the Ambassador added.

In this context Uzbekistan can cover requirements of many countries with products of the agrarian sector: fruits, vegetables and other products in large volumes. Along with this, Kazakhstan can increase production of grain and beef and dairy products both for domestic consumption and for export.

"We propose Uzbekistan futures contracts. Kazakhstan is ready to finance those Uzbek farm households which need it and after harvesting the farmers will dispose the final product. Such enterprises can be established in Kazakhstan for growing durum wheat and manufacturing of beef and dairy products", Turisbekov said.

Another project is establishment of factories on processing of horticultural products and manufacturing of preserves in Saryagash village of the South Kazakhstan oblast. The project will be financed by Russia which is always interested in import of agricultural products.
