Kattakurgan to Receive Nearly 3,000 Hectares for Infrastructure and Housing Development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis have approved a draft resolution to adjust the boundaries of the city of Kattakurgan as well as those of the Kattakurgan and Nurabad districts in the Samarkand region.
According to the document, Kattakurgan will gain an additional 1,945 hectares of land from Kattakurgan district and 971 hectares from Nurabad district. In addition, 600 hectares of Nurabad district will be incorporated into Kattakurgan district.
The expansion will allow Kattakurgan to be classified as a major city. Parliament emphasized that the decision was driven by the city’s dynamic socio-economic development, a growing population, and the need to create comfortable living conditions through the construction of new infrastructure and modern housing complexes.
The project also envisions the establishment of a branch of the Urgut Free Economic Industrial Zone covering 50 hectares, along with three small industrial zones totaling 30 hectares.
The government has been instructed to ensure the comprehensive implementation of the set tasks and organize measures related to the boundary adjustments.
