Kasimdzhanov suffers defeat against Anand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s Rustam Kasimdzhanov, 2004 world chess champion, and India’s Viswanathan Anand, current world champion, held a friendly match in Tashkent on 27 March.

The match was organized by the Ministry for Culture and Sports Affairs of Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan Chess Federation, and the Fund Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan. The event was aimed at further popularizing chess in the country.

Grand masters held four rapid chess matches and Viswanathan Anand claimed a victory with the score – 3.5-0.5.

On 28-29 March 2011, Viswanathan Anand and Rustam Kasimdzhanov will hold a training seminar for young chess players of Uzbekistan.

Viswanathan Anand was born in 1969 in Madras, India. He held the FIDE World Chess Championship from 2000 to 2002, at a time when the world title was split. He became the undisputed World Champion in 2007 and defended his title against Vladimir Kramnik in 2008.

Rustam Kasimdzhanov was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in 1979. He won the FIDE World Chess Championship 2004 and the 2010 Asian Games.
