Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has signed a decree on the establishment of Karshi State Technical University.
According to the decree, the new university will be formed based on the Karshi Engineering-Economic Institute, the Karshi Institute of Irrigation and Agrotechnologies, the Karshi branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, and the Shakhrisabz branch of the Tashkent Chemical-Technological Institute.
The university’s primary tasks will include the preparation, retraining, and advanced training of engineering personnel in fields such as engineering, geology, manufacturing, construction, transportation, energy, information technologies and programming, services, irrigation systems, and agrotechnologies.
Starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, the university plans to expand its training programs to include new fields such as renewable energy, ecology and environmental protection, and environmental engineering.
Additionally, a system for evaluating student performance and teaching effectiveness will be implemented according to international standards. An Educational Services Center will be established to assist students with organizational and legal issues during their studies, operating on a "one-stop shop" basis.
Special groups will be formed for gifted students, where courses will be taught in foreign languages.
Students studying at universities that are part of the new institution will continue their education at Karshi State Technical University. From the 2024/2025 academic year, graduating students will receive diplomas from Karshi State Technical University.
