Karakalpakstan registered 12% growth regional gross domestic product in January-March 2007, a session of deputies’ council of Karakalpakstan said.

The session said the industrial output of Karakalpakstan rose by 19.2%, consumer goods production grew by 11.3%. Agriculture output increased by 9.4% in the reporting period.

The session also noted mistakes and shortcomings. It was noted insufficient attention to tax collection from legal entities, timely payment of communal service by population and inefficient use of energy resources.

It was said the country should increase goods production due to boost of small and private businesses, improvement of services, increase level of employment, etc.
