Karakalpakstan to host Asrlar Sadosi-2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- One of the largest projects of Fund Forum and UNESCO office in Uzbekistan - “Asrlar sadosi” (Echo of Centuries) Festival of Traditional Culture – will be held in Ellikkala district of Karakalpakstan Republic on 5-6 May 2012.

Fund Forum said that historic fortress Tuprak Kala and well-known Musuem of Art named after Savitsky in Nukus will be central sights of the festival, which became crossroads of traditions, art, history and present. Bureau of international and youth tourism and cooperation “Kelajak Ovozi” is official turoperator of the festival.

Karakalpakstan Republic, located in northern-western Uzbekistan, attracts more and more art critics, scientists, archeologists, researchers and travelers. The region is well-known for its culture, rich historic heritage, unique natural landscape, ancient sights, etc.

Main venue of the Asrlar Sadosi will be Tuprak Kala fortress, capital of ancient Khorezm. The site of ancient settlement is located in Ellikkala district and its excavations were started in 1940. The side was included into UNESCO heritage list.

The guests of the festival will also visit the State museum of art named after Savitsky. The museum also called “Louvre in desert” due to its rich collection, number of which makes up 90,000 exhibits.

As tradition, the festival programme will include various competions of folk groups, national costumes, national games, kurash, cooks, etc. The festival will also include exhibitions and fairs of craftsmen.
