Karakalpak department of Commerce Chamber, German Development Service held meeting
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the beginning of November, Karakalpak Department of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan held a meeting with regional representative of German Development Service (DED) in Middle East and Central Asia Helma Kraus, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan said on 28 November.

Claudia Schleicher, coordinator of DED, and Danial Lapeti, representative in Nukus, attend accompanied Helma Klaus. The mission was aimed at getting acquainted with work of regional office and establishment ties for further mutually beneficial cooperation.

German Development Service is one of the leading European development services for exchange of experts. It was founded in 1963 and since then more than 15,000 development workers helped to improve living conditions of people in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Almost 1,000 development experts are currently working in 47 countries.

DED has started its operations in Central Asia in 2002. DED are working in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in Central Asia through its regional office in Dushanbe. More than 20 professional experts are assigned to various projects in the partner countries. The DED specialists provide advisory services to partner organizations in Central Asia together with their international, bilateral and local cooperation partners.

Since 2006, Christine Falkenberg, representative of DED in Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, is advising on organizational development of its regional branches in Republic Karakalpakistan, Khorezm, Kashkadarya and Sukhandarya regions.

During past period, Christine Falkenberg organized several business briefings, helped in opening Training and Resource Centre “Zamangay Biznes Talim” at the Karakalpak Republican office of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan with funds of Embassy of German Federative Republic.

Main topic of the meeting was further development of cooperation between the two sides in other spheres. Based on Tajikistan’s experience, Helma Kruas shared her opinion about perspectives of tourism development in the region. The idea was supported by chief of Karakalpak Republican Department Kaypnazarov and the sides agreed agree mutually beneficial ways of cooperation in the sphere.

After meeting, the guests visited Resource and Training Centre “Zamangay Biznes Talim” at the to Karakalpak Republican office of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.
