Kadyrov: Freedom of speech should not shield rudeness and hostility online
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Alisher Kadyrov, leader of the "Milliy Tiklanish" party, announced the preparation of a draft law aimed at tightening responsibility for insults, discrimination, and humiliation in the information space.
According to him, freedom is a vital condition for societal development, but it must be accompanied by openness, responsibility, and accountability. In the digital environment, manifestations of aggression, discrimination, and degradation should be considered serious offenses and be strictly punished.
Kadyrov pointed to a troubling trend where more and more people, by provoking hostility, hide behind the concept of "the people," using it as a shield. However, according to Article 10 of the Constitution, only certain entities have the right to express opinions on behalf of the people. Others must speak for themselves, engage in discussions and debates, and take responsibility for what they say and do, he emphasized.
The deputy noted the dangerous practice currently observed: in the internet space, it has become possible to coordinate the actions of individuals with distorted perceptions and mindsets in pursuit of narrow business or management goals. He believes that the law must effectively curb such manipulations, regardless of who is behind them, and enforce strict measures.
Kadyrov expressed concern that such media projects might eventually spiral out of control, causing harm first to their creators and then to thousands of lives, both young and old. He cited the tragic experience of Ukraine, which, in his view, serves as a clear example of the destructive consequences.
He also emphasized that the internet is not just a means of earning money but a valuable platform for self-expression, opening unique opportunities for humanity. However, freedom of expression should not be used as an excuse for rudeness and the destruction of cultural and societal norms. Kadyrov is convinced that such manifestations should be fought against decisively and without leniency.
