Before the final match, the Uzbek judoka defeated Kirill Biletskiy of Ukraine, Matthieu Thorel of France, Hiroki Tachiyama of Japan and Sung-Min Kim of South Korea.

Alexander Mikhaylin of Russia and Hiroki Tachiyama won the bronze medals.

The winner of the tournament won US$25,000. The silver and bronze medalists claimed US$5,000.
