Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the United States, Judge Frank Caprio, widely known as “the kindest judge in the world,” has passed away at the age of 88.

The cause of death was pancreatic cancer, according to an announcement posted on Caprio’s official Facebook page.

He gained global recognition through the television program Caught in Providence, clips of which went viral on social media platforms, including TikTok, where he had 1.6 million followers. Judge Caprio became famous for his compassion and kindness toward those appearing before him in court.

The series documenting his courtroom practice premiered in 2000 and received four Daytime Emmy nominations. Frank Caprio served as a Providence Municipal Court judge from 1985 until 2023. In December 2024, he publicly revealed his diagnosis and expressed gratitude for the support he received.

An official statement emphasized that his legacy lives on through the good deeds of those he inspired, and that his example of compassion will be carried forward.
