JSC "Thermal Power Stations" launches new cogeneration plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  JSC "Thermal Power Stations" has launched a new, modern, and energy-efficient cogeneration plant as part of an investment project in the "Shon-Shukhrat" neighborhood of the Almazar district in the capital, in cooperation with the Turkish company "Iltekno."

The inauguration of the plant took place yesterday during a ceremony marking the commissioning of new investment projects at the "Congress Hall," with the participation of the President of Uzbekistan.

The new plant has a capacity of 1.2 MW for electricity production and 6.4 Gcal for heat production. It is located in the "Shon-Shukhrat" neighborhood of Almazar district.

The total project cost of the modern energy facility, implemented by JSC "Thermal Power Stations" in collaboration with the Turkish company "Iltekno," and located on a 0.16-hectare site, is US$3.6 million. The efficiency of the energy facility exceeds 80%.

With the commissioning of this project, the plant will produce 8 million kWh of electricity and 52,000 Gcal of thermal energy annually. The installation of the most modern and high-efficiency technologies from developed countries will lead to savings of 0.7 million cubic meters of natural gas per year and a 67% reduction in air pollutants. The project has created 10 new jobs.

The plant is equipped with a gas piston unit imported from Germany and two "Bosch" boilers. Thanks to the closed system of heat supply, the thermal energy produced by the plant is delivered directly to residents’ homes, completely eliminating heat losses. As a result of the commissioning of the plant, 18 multi-story buildings, one school, one social facility, and over a thousand apartments in the area will be provided with stable thermal energy.
