Al Faisaly’s striker Ahmed Hayel, who had also scored in Jordan’s 1-1 draw against Iraq in June’s FIFA 2014 World Cup Asian Qualifiers, broke the deadlock in the 56th minute. The second goal came in the 70th minute through Hasan Abdel Fattah as Jordan bounced back from Monday’s defeat to end the two-match tie at 1-1.
Both the sides will be in action in September 11 qualifiers featuring different groups.
Jordan are at rock-bottom of Group B with a single point from two matches so far. They mustered a 1-1 draw with Iraq at home while leaders Japan beat 10-man Jordan 6-0 in their previous match. The final round debutants will travel to Oman in October.
Uzbekistan, a perennial underachiever at this stage of the competition, gathered one point from two matches featuring a heartbreaking 1-0 home reverse against Iran which cost the job of coach Vadim Avramov who was replaced by Mirjalol Kasimov, and will be in action against Korea Republic at home in Group A action.
