Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An official opening ceremony was held for the One Belt, One Road joint laboratory of new medicines operating in Tashkent. 

It was attended by First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan Komiljon Karimov and Deputy Secretary General of the People's Government of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region Mr. Wang Lei.

As part of the opening ceremony, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Xinjiang Medical University and the Tashkent Medical Academy.

The project "Creation of the Uzbek-Chinese medical technology park for the synthesis of medicinal substances" worth US$10.0 million is being implemented by the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation together with the Center for the Development and Implementation of Medicine in Central Asia of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. 

Annually, 13 types of medicines and chemicals worth US$36 million will be produced here and 120 jobs will be created.

After the opening ceremony of the joint laboratory, the guests got acquainted with the planned work and conditions created in the newly established Clinic of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Xinjiang Medical University on the second floor of the building
