Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — German coach Joachim Löw, who led the German national team to victory at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, has declined the offer to become head coach of Uzbekistan’s national football team.

According to Bild, negotiations between Löw and representatives of the Uzbekistan Football Association were conducted online with the support of the country’s embassy in Berlin. After several days of consideration, the coach decided to turn down the invitation.

Sources indicate that his decision was also influenced by his wife, Daniella Schmid, who preferred that they continue a peaceful and measured life in retirement rather than relocating to another country for a new job.

Joachim Löw is 65 years old. Since stepping down as Germany’s national team coach in March 2021, he has not led any club or national teams. In 2014, FIFA named him Coach of the Year.

It should be noted that the Uzbekistan national football team has qualified for the FIFA World Cup final stage for the first time. The team is currently led by head coach Temur Kapadze.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
