Jizzakh region’s GRP grows by 9.7% in Jan-Sep
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Gross regional product (GRP) of Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh region grew by 9.7% year-on-year in January-June 2010.

Industrial output of the region rose by 17.6%, agriculture production – 6.9%, construction works – 13.1% and rendered paid services – 17.9%.

In line with regional programme on increasing industrial potential, new 52 enterprises have been commissioned in the reporting period. Five enterprises were also modernized.

Enterprises, which were included into Localization Programme, produced goods for 2.33 billion soums, of which 20 billion soums were delivered to internal market ad US$1.652 million to external market. The localization measures helped to save hard currency worth US$477 million.

The commercial banks issued loans for 62.667 billion soums to support small and private businesses of the region in January-September 2010. Share of private sector rose to 37.5% in the region’s economy, 99% in agriculture output, 50.8% - retail trade turnover and 60% - rendered services.

In line with territorial programme on employment of population, some 34,422 new jobs were created in Jizzakh region, of which 64.2% fell to share of rural areas.
