JICA and UNDP Sign Grant Agreement to Support Self-Sufficiency of Vulnerable Groups
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has provided the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with a grant of 496 million yen to procure equipment for a training center and to conduct programs aimed at developing professional skills and entrepreneurial activities for vulnerable population groups.
According to JICA’s office in Uzbekistan, the project is designed to promote economic independence among the youth and women of Uzbekistan, as well as Afghan citizens residing in the Surkhandarya region. The initiative also includes Afghan women from border areas of Afghanistan.
The program is expected to create new employment opportunities, contributing to economic revival and social stabilization in the region hosting Afghan nationals.
