Japanese tea is grown in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Scientists are conducting scientific work on the adaptation of tea plants to the soil and climatic conditions of Uzbekistan.

They are planted in mountainous and foothill regions located at an altitude of 600-1500 meters above sea level, in particular in Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Jizzakh, Tashkent regions and in the Ferghana Valley. Trial tea plants are developing well in our country.

This initiative to grow tea in our country was launched when Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his visit to Japan, signed a protocol with the Prime Minister of the Land of the Rising Sun, reaching an agreement on growing tea.

After that, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to organize tea production and provide the population with high-quality tea and tea products of domestic production” was adopted. In this regard, teachers of the Department of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of the Tashkent State Agricultural University, in cooperation with the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, introduced 5 varieties of tea (“Sayamakaori”, “Fukimidori”, “Hokimei”, “Fushin”, “Sayamadori”) - brought to our country these teas for research.

The purpose of this partnership is to propagate tea plants in mountainous and foothill areas, and then create an area for its cultivation. This will provide the domestic market with high-quality local tea and tea products at an inexpensive price. By the way, the implementation of plans in this area will ensure employment in the regions of our country.
