Japanese firm to reconstruct pump stations in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Japan’s Kubota Corp signed a contract with the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan for reconstruction of three pump stations with total cost of US$34.2 million.

RIA Novosti reported that the Japanese company won a tender of the Uzbek Ministry, which was announced in mid-2012 and envisages reconstruction of three stations with change of facilities on turnkey basis in Ferghana Valley.

The project is financed due to resource of the Asian Development Bank for US$100 million, which were issued to Uzbekistan in December 2009.

The project with total cost of US$144 million envisages reconstruction irrigation system of Samarkand and Ferghana regions in 2009-2014. The project will help to ensure sustainable development of agriculture in irrigated lands with total area of 60,000 hectares. Uzbekistan also allocated US$44 million to finance the project.
