Japanese fashion designer Issei Miyake dies at the age of 84

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Japanese designer and founder of the fashion house of the same name, Issei Miyake, has died at the age of 84. This was reported by the news agency Kyodo.

It is known that the fashion designer passed away on 5 August. The cause of death of the man was a long illness - hepatocellular carcinoma.

Issei Miyake was born on 22 April 1938 in Hiroshima, Japan. In 1970, he founded Miyake Design Studio (MDS), and a year later he presented his first collection in New York. The following years were a time of rapid rise for the brand. In 1973, the fashion designer moved the MDS shows to Paris, and a year later opened his first flagship store in Tokyo.

The Japanese was a representative of conceptual fashion, an adherent of innovative and at the same time functional design using new technologies.
