Economy 10/11/2009 Japanese delegation visits Uzbekneftegaz
Uzbekneftegaz headquarters in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Japan is led by advisor of Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yochi Kato visited Uzbekneftegaz national holding company.

The delegation included representatives of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

During the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekneftegaz has experience of cooperation with the Japanese partners, but the sides noted that there is need to boost ties. The agreement on liberalization, encouragement and protection of investment between Uzbekistan and Japan could give important impulse to the relations.

Uzbekneftegaz said that during the meeting, it was announced interest in joint work within the projects in Uzbekistan on production of gas to liquid (GTL) and dimethyl ether. The Uzbek company said the cooperation issues will be discussed within the third business forum “Uzbekistan-Japan: economic dialogue and perspectives of partnership”.

The Uzbek side praised the participation of Japan in Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in Uzbekistan.

The Japanese side said that there is necessary ground for further development of cooperation.
